Toronto - “Gran Torino”, the drama directed by and starring Clint Eastwood, took the top spot at the box office this weekend grossing $29 million, the highest ever weekend total for any of Eastwood’s films.

“Bride Wars”, a comedy with Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway, came in second this weekend with $21.5 million. The horror movie called “The Unborn” managed to scare enough fans to come in just behind “Bride Wars” with $21.1 million.

“Marley and Me”, the number one film for the last two weeks dropped to fourth spot this weekend adding another $11.4 million to its total of almost $124 million.

Rounding out the top five movies with $9.5 million was “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”, a love story featuring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett.
