Washington - The Dark Knight has managed to take the crown as the biggest weekend opening for a film ever at the box office.
The Batman Begins sequel, The Dark Knight, stormed into theaters this weekend much to the glee of fans.
The Dark Knight managed to enter the record books by taking in $155.3 million.
This beats out the previous record-holder, Spider-Man 3, which took in $151.1 million just last year.
This proves that The Dark Knight was a much bigger draw at the box office than other big franchises such as Iron Man, Indiana Jones, and others.
No other film came close, as Mamma Mia! took in $27.6 million in second. Hancock was in third with $14 million.
