Toronto – Grand Theft Auto IV broke records for video game and movie ticket sales after hauling in a landmark 500-million dollars in its opening week.
Compare that to the highest-grossing film opening of all time, Pirates of the Caribbean 2, which only made 196-million in first-week sales.
Worldwide, the game has sold about six million copies to date.
The popular game has also been kind to Xbox 360 and Sony PS3 sales as well.
Xbxo 360 sales jumped 54 percent the week after GTA was released, with 2.3 million people playing on Xbox Live. The PS3 saw a similar increase.
