Los Angeles – Kanye West’s late mother Donda, who died on Saturday following liposuction, a breast reduction and tummy tuck, had cancelled the surgeries several times before eventually undergoing the operations, Us reports.
Beverly Hills surgeon Andre Aboolian consulted with Ms. West, 58, over a four-month period and opted not to perform the operations because of her heart condition.
The surgeon she ultimately went to, Jan Adams, has had at least three malpractice suits filed against him and been charged with DUI twice, TMZ reports.
Donda spent eight hours under the knife on Friday and was found dead at her home Saturday evening.
An autopsy will be performed this week to figure out what went wrong.
Kanye put out a statement asking that donations be made in his mom’s name to Loop Dreams, a program Kan and Donda kicked off to ues hip-hop culture to teach kids about broader issues.
Before her unexpected passing, Donda was looking forward to Kanye’s wedding to fiancée Alexis Phifer, but told People she was afraid the couple might run off and marry in secret. “I’m just keeping my fingers crossed that I don’t look up and they say, ‘Come to the reception.
The wedding is over!’,” she told People in May.
A funeral is expected to be held in Oklahoma City.
