Hollywood (EON) – PBS is estimating that 18.7 million viewers tuned in on Sunday to the airings of Ken Burns’ The War.
The first chapter of The War was presented on PBS to an amazing amount of people who all tuned in to see the amazing war stories brought to life surrounding World War II.
15.5 million people tuned in from 8 to 10:30 p.m. while additional viewers tuned in from 10:30 p.m. to 1 a.m for the repeat airing.
Burns’ past work includes The Civil War, Baseball, and Lewis and Clark. He has never done something like this though as this focuses on the everday folk of World War II instead of focusing on the big names such as Hitler.
It tells stories which have never been told before and presents them in such a way that you can truly relate to and understand what these people went through as they were sent off to war and their loved ones stayed behind at home in the U.S.
The next Sunday airing is set for October 2nd, next Sunday. The War will continue to air through Wednesday.
