Everyone has heard of Steve McNair, the former NFL Quarterback, but not everyone has heard of Steve McNair . Jr. but
Southern Mississippi has, and he chose them to play for.
In Feburary 2010 McNair Jr. will sign to play for the Golden Eagles. Answering questions as to why he decided to play for Southern Miss and turned down scholarships from Ole’ Miss, Nebraska, Minnesota and West Virginia, Steve McNair Jr. stated that he wanted to be close to his family and give them a chance to see him play.
He also felt very positive with the Golden Eagles coach Larry Fedora. McNair Jr. said that he loved the Southern Miss campus too, and so the decision was not a hard one to make.
Standing 6′1 and 195 pounds the wide reciever, has been a dominating player this fall for Oak Grove located in Hattisburg Mississippi catching 39 passes for 372 yards and three scores, while also rushing for 293 yards and passing for 141.
This is good news for McNair Jr, after the difficult year that he has had following the tragic murder of his father. Hopefully 2010 will be the start to a brighter future for a rising star in college football.

Steve Phillips Drama
Steve Phillips was once known as the General Manager for the New York Mets. There was a lot of excitement about him in New York when he was first hired. He was supposed to be the man to push the right buttons and take the team to the next level. Unfortunately, he traded away then leadoff hitter Lance Johnson for reliever Mel Rojas. By doing so, it took the Mets right out of the playoff race. For a long time in New York, that was his legacy. He was not known as an ESPN analyst first. Now everything has changed.
Steve Phillips, like many men with power, money and opportunity, could not resist his sexual desires. The twenty-two-year-old production assistant, Brooke Hundley, proved to be too tempting. Soon after their affair, ESPN fired Steve Phillips. Brooke Hundley was fired shortly thereafter. ESPN claimed that Steve Phillips didn’t represent them well. Steve Phillips reportedly has shown sexually compulsive behavior. It’s not abnormal for a big network to ditch one of their key players if an event in their lives can cause negative media attention.
According to Steve Leftkowitz, a representative for Steve Phillips, Mr. Phillips feels terrible about theses actions as has checked himself into a treatment center. He is most upset about what damage it might have done to his family, as that is his number one priority.
Will Steve Phillips return to baseball, whether it be as a general manager or analyst? Probably not, but crazier things have happened.

ESPN confirms firing of Steve Phillips
ESPN confirmed on Sunday that former New York Mets General Manager and current baseball analyst Steve Phillips has been fired. Phillips had been with ESPN for over a year working in the booth on the networks Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday night baseball coverage as well as working as a contributor on “Baseball Tonight”.
It was discovered last week that Phillips had been carrying on an affair with Brooke Hundley, a 22 year old production assistant for ESPN. Phillips took a leave of absence last Wednesday when the story came to light in the press, and the network decided Sunday not to allow Phillips to continue to working as a baseball analyst. Josh Krulewitz, a spokesman for ESPN, said the network released Phillips because it was determined that his ability to effectively operate as a baseball analyst was “significantly and irreparably damaged”.
Following the announcement that Phillips’ was fire, Hundley took to her MySpace page to say she was still “hopeful.”
Phillips, 46, apparently broke off his affair with Hundley around August 5th at which point Hundley began harassing Phillips’ family. According to police reports filed in Connecticut where Phillips lives, Hundley not only contacted Phillips’ son over the internet, but also called the house to speak with Phillips’ wife. Hundley also sent Phillips’ wife, Marni, a letter containing graphic details about their affair including the location of several of Phillips’ birthmarks.
Steve Phillips is the second ESPN baseball analyst to be fired since 2006. Former “Baseball Tonight” analyst Harold Reynolds was let go for “inappropriate hugging” in an incident involving a female intern. Reynolds has since filed a wrongful termination suit that was recently settled out of court.

Mixed Martial Arts fighting has left boxing in the dust in recent years. This is due to a unique fighting style and because the game isn’t corrupt. That said, after watching Mauricio Shogun Rua fight defending champ Lyoto Machida, I’m beginning to wonder if this sport is heading in the same direction when big money is involved.
At UFC 104, Rua was very strategic. He completely took Machida out of his game. He frustrated Machida the whole fight by eliminating his strengths. Rua used targeted kicks and some punches to make sure the fight fit his fighting style instead of Machida’s. Some say that if Rua was still in his prime, he would have finished Machida off and locked up the victory. Just because he didn’t do that doesn’t mean he shouldn’t be awarded the victory if he outfought his opponent.
When the scores were announced at the Staples Center, almost everyone in the building looked shocked, including Lyoto Machida. While this is unfair to Rua, the significance of the decision goes way beyond that fight. It’s possible that the UFC wanted the champ to remain the champ, but when you strip integrity from the game, your sport is bound to end up like boxing. Eventually, another sport comes around and steals your thunder.
Hopefully this decision was an aberration. For the sake of the sport and all of its fans, let’s hope that’s the case, because in my book, Mauricio Shogun Rua is the current light heavyweight champion.

ESPN analyst Steve Phillips is in the middle of the latest sex scandal to rock the media.
The former New York Mets General Manager was having an affair with 22-year-old production assistant Brooke Hundley.
When their affair started to go south, Hundley allegedly went off the deep end.
Hundley hand delivered a letter to Phillips’ wife, Miami Phillips. In the letter, Hundley described in intimate details the extent of her relationship with Phillips — going as far as describing various parts of his anatomy.
Upon receiving the letter, Miami quickly called police.
TMZ has obtained Marni Phillips’ 911 call, in which she tells the operator, “I have a crazy woman who is involved with my husband and she’s come to my house to harm me and my children.”
Hundley smashed her car into a stone column while speeding away from the Phillips’ home after leaving the letter, terrifying the family.
She also may have used an ESPN computer to contact and stalk Phillips’ 16-year-old son on Facebook while posing as one of his high-school classmates.
“I have extreme concerns about the health and safety of my kids and myself,” Steve Phillips said in a Wilton, Conn., police statement, adding that Brooke Hundley had become “obsessive and delusional” after he dumped her.
Phillips, 46, said in a statement that he’s “deeply sorry that I have put my family and colleagues through this. It is a personal matter that I will not comment on further.”
Phillips is taking an indefinite leave of absence from ESPN.

ESPN’s “Baseball Tonight” analyst Steve Phillips has been suspended for a week, after admitting to having an affair with a 22-year-old production assistant.
Phillips confessed to his wife Marni Phillips and local police that he had a long-term affair with ESPN assistant Brooke Hundley, 22, several times this summer before dumping her.
Brooke has reportedly sent disturbing phone calls and a letter that bragged about her sexual relationship with Phillips to his wife Marni Phillips.
Phillips was forced to involve police in the situation, and the media caught wind of the news shortly thereafter.
“I have extreme concerns about the health and safety of my kids and myself,” Steve Phillips said in a Wilton, Conn., police statement, adding that Brooke Hundley had become “obsessive and delusional” after he dumped her.
According to reports, Hundley contacted Philips’ 16-year-old son on Facebook.
“She said that she had overheard my mom telling someone at my brother’s baseball game that my dad really likes someone at work and is probably going to move out and that if I need to talk to anyone, she would be willing to listen because her parents went through the same thing,” the boy told cops.
“She asked inappropriate questions about my parents, such as: Do they sleep in the same bed? Do you think they will be getting a divorce? Do they fight a lot?” the youth added.
This isn’t the first time the former Met general manager had an affair with another women. in 1998, Phillips took a week-long leave of absence from the team after admitting to having sex with Mets employee Rosa Rodriguez. He returned to the team after settling her lawsuit for an undisclosed amount. The Mets fired him in 2003.
ESPN has declined comment.

The Miami Dolphins are about to get a little more Fergalicious.
Fergie was just approved by NFL owners to become a minority investor in the team.
Fergie and the Black Eyed Peas have made it no secret who they root for: the singer has recently been donning a pink Dolphins jersey to support breast cancer awareness this month.
I got a feeling that this season’s gonna… nevermind.
The Miami Dolphins are actually co-owned by a number of famous faces, including Jimmy Buffett, Gloria and Emilio Estefan, Marc Anthony and tennis stars Serena and Venus Williams.

Google has finally given Canadians something they’ve been hoping for for some time: Street View. Now residents in a number of major cities can find their homes, parks, businesses and maybe even themselves on Google’s Street View.
Google Street View Canada currently has high-resolution images of 15 Canadian cities taken at street-level. Currently, the 360-degree views are available in Toronto, Ottawa, Hamilton, Waterloo, Kitchener, Squamish, Whistler, Chilliwack, Banff National Park, Calgary, Montreal, Quebec City, Halifax, Abbotsford and Vancouver. The earlier part of this year has been spent gathering images for the Canadian cities.
The Canadian government has not hidden their apprehension regarding the technology and privacy. According to Google, all images are taken from public streets and do not infringe on anyone’s privacy. In compliance with the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, Google Street View automatically blurs the faces of people it captures, along with all license places. Anyone that finds themself of Google Street View can have their image removed by filling out a form online.
Already Canadians have begun sending in fun images they have found on Google Street View. Finds include a street accident at an intersection that disappears while viewing the street 180-degrees, garbage piles in an outdoor skating rink with handwriting on the sidewalk: “Toronto Parks Are Not Dumps!”, and an image showing a Tamil protest in Ottawa across from Parliament Hill.
The Street View application is currently available on iPhones, allowing anyone to enter an address and get a clear, high-resolution view of the intersection or building. All Street View images are patched together from many angles and allow a 360-degree view.

ESPN Body Issue Hits The Stands With Serena Williams On the Cover Nude
ESPN has released their “body issue” today, causing some concerns among many Christian groups. The company expected mixed reviews, and is ready for the criticism. The ESPN magazine for this month has a total of six different covers available, all featuring different athletes posing nude.
The athletes are posed to show a lot of skin, but no actual nudity is revealed. The poses are very strategic and cover all areas that should be covered for a newsstand magazine. The athletes featured include Serena Williams(Tennis), Carl Edwards(NASCAR), Dwight Howard (NBA), Adrian Peterson(NFL), martial artist Gina Carano, triathlete Sara Reinertsen.
Serena Williams has been under fire for her part in the magazine cover. She has responded that she feels the photos are classy and not trashy. She complains about her own personal body issues, but explains she still feels beautiful, and wants girls to know they can feel beautiful as well, no matter how they look.
The magazine features athletes from professional and amateur sports, including hockey, surfing, golf and soccer. The issue is meant to focus on the athlete and their body styles. It has nothing to do with what is main stream beautiful, but an athlete with a perfect body for their chosen sport.
The magazine, which is owned by Disney, declares the photos are tastefully done. Each athlete will have equipment covering all the necessary places. It has been speculated that ESPN, is jumping on the “sex sells” bandwagon, and are using this issue to generate sales.
