Miley Cyrus has released a new album titled Breakout. This is the first album the 15-year-old star has made without her Hannah Montana alter-ego.
Cyrus admits that she was a bit “surprised” at the interest in her new album at recent promo event.
“Everyone actually showed up. I was like, ‘OK, there are going to be two people, and they’re going to be paparazzi.” The stunned Hannah Montana star told WENN
Miley was also proud of herself for the songs she wrote and how they sounded.
“It’s grown up. I wrote all the songs except two,” said Cyrus.
“Songwriting is what I really want to do with my life forever,” Cyrus told Billboard magazine .”I just hope this record showcases that, more than anything, I’m a writer.”
Cyrus was one of the biggest touring acts in the United States in 2007, taking in an estimated $36-million in ticket sales.
Arlington - Jessica Simpson performed at her first country music show this past weekend and things did not go as she would have liked.
When the former pop singer took to the stage at the Country Thunder Festival in Twin Lakes, Wisconsin, on Saturday night, she was greeted with a warm welcome of boos, reports the local paper.
“Many audience members found her attempt to crossover into country irritating and that her vocals lacked a southern sound,” says one critic.
Simpson performed cover versions of Willie Nelson’s “On the Road Again” and Shania Twain’s Who’s Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?” and her singles “Come On Over” and “With You.”
Kenosha News quotes an audience member as saying, “Just because she’s dating Tony Romo, it doesn’t make her country. She doesn’t fit in with country, and I’ll have to drink a lot of beer to sit through her concert.” (more…)

Shannon Doherty is set to reprise her roll from Beverly Hills, 90210 in multiple episodes of the new CW spin-off, 90210.
The network announced on Saturday that Brenda Walsh is coming back.
Doherty played the character from 1990-1994 on the original hit show.

They are upset about recent pictures released on the internet which show her in the shower in a white t-shirt.
Needless to say, they are not pleased with the type of role model the 15-year old Disney star is being.

DMX was arrested on charges of giving a fake identity when he gave inaccurate information to a hospital.
He did so, according to reports, to avoid paying medical expenses which totaled more than $7,000.
When he received medical treatment earlyer in the year, DMX, real name Earl Simmons, went by the name Troy Jones.

ABC has signed Nick Lachey to host High School Musical: Get in the Picture.
The new reality series made its big debut on Sunday night, and allowed fans of the film to audition.
Contestants will be going through an audition for a chance to enter the televised competition of High School Musical.

The show is set to begin shooting in Austin, Texas this August.

The Batman Begins sequel, The Dark Knight, stormed into theaters this weekend much to the glee of fans.
The Dark Knight managed to enter the record books by taking in $155.3 million.
This beats out the previous record-holder, Spider-Man 3, which took in $151.1 million just last year.
Los Angeles - Oscar-nominated Mexican actress Salma Hayek and her billionaire businessman fiance Francois-Henri Pinault have called off their engagement.
“We are sad to announce the engagement of Salma Hayek and Francois-Henri Pinault has been canceled. There will be no further comment,” said Cari Ross, Hayek’s spokeswoman, in a statement.
Earlier this year Salma told Glamour magazine that she felt no great “need” to get married but thought they “probably” would: “You want to grow old with someone, you want to have a partner and to have children - we have all those things. Some people need the commitment. Maybe we’ll just make the party!”
Forty-one-year-old Hayek and 46-year-old Pinault met in Italy in 2006 and have one child together, Valentina Paloma Pinault, born September 2007.
Hayek, who has stared in such films as Spy Kids and Traffic, is currently a producer on the hit ABC show Ugly Betty.
