Hollywood has lost yet another talented young star. 27 year old Justin Mentell was killed when his 2005 Jeep SUV hit two trees. The accident report states Mentell veered off an embankment on highway 39, which is near Mineral Point, Wisconsin. He was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash and was apparently ejected from the vehicle.
The tragic accident was reported around 8:30 am Monday morning according to the Iowa County Sheriff’s department. Mentell was found near his vehicle in the rural area and pronounced dead at the scene. It is unclear when the accident actually happened. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to have played a factor in the accident. His mother believes he may have fallen asleep at the wheel.
Mentell is most famous for his role as lawyer Garrett Wells during the 2005-2006 season of Boston Legal. He grew up in the small town of Waukegan and had returned there after a few years in Hollywood. The talented man was an accomplished speed skater, actor, musician and world traveler. He was named to the US Junior National Speedskating team in 2000. He moved back to his hometown to work on his art.
Dr. Frank Ryan, the surgeon who performed a multitude of cosmetic procedures on Heidi Montag, has not had much to say. Prior to her surgeries the doctor defended the starlet saying she was making a well thought out career choice.
Her procedures included: a brow lift, Botox injections in her forehead, a revised nose job, fat injections in her cheeks, nasal folds and lips, a chin reduction, ear pinning, breast implants and buttock augmentation. All of this in 10 hours of time. Heidi later bragged saying,” the hospital usually only allows procedures that take 6 hours or less, but they let me do it.”
What happened to healthy self-esteem and the woes of addiction to surgery? An attractive young girl who has looks many girls would envy, but is insecure about her appearance. Hmmm. Did Dr. Ryan attempt to counsel Heidi prior to agreeing to do all these surgeries? Did he have any concern about doing them all at the same time? Her husband, Spencer Pratt voiced his doubts even though he thought the ultimate choice was hers. Amazing there was so little concern on the part of the medical staff. You’re young, you’re healthy, you have the money…Oh, yes, he has refused to do any more procedures on her.
Prince Harry took a royal tumble during the annual Sentebale Polo Cup in Barbados. Though the prince flew off of his horse, nothing more than his pride was injured.
While competing in the charity polo match, Harry’s horse stumbled to the ground, but the prince managed to gracefully roll out of the animal’s path and quickly get back on his feet.
The 25 year-old royal let his temper rage after the fall, throwing his mallet before ripping off and punching his helmet. Later he explained the tantrum, saying that a donor had promised him $100,000 Barbados dollars for the Sentebale charity if he stayed on his horse or $50,000 Barbados dollars if he fell off.
Sentebale, which Harry cofounded in honor of his mother, is a charity that assists children with AIDS in Africa. Harry says his anger came not from the embarrassment of the fall, but from the loss of charity money, saying, “So when I fell off, I threw down my mallet and shouted: ‘What a waste of $100,000!’ I was furious with myself.”
But all’s well that ends well; the donor followed through with his $100,000 donation after realizing that the horse’s stumble caused the prince’s fall.
After a great appearance as a guest judge on “American Idol”, Katy Perry is considering a career change from singer/pop star to something a little more judgmental. According to Katy she totally fell in love with her role as a guest judge on “American Idol” and would consider giving up her singing career if she were offered the full time job. Though there was some back and forth with judge Kara she still had a great experience.
Katy has been said to be one of the best guest judges so far. She spoke her mind and had very constructive comments. She has been around music her whole life and not only has a great love for it but a good ear. Katy also has a personality that makes America watch with enthusiasm. She took her role as guest judge very seriously and had a great time doing it.
There have been some speculations as to whether this is just talk or if the singer/pop star is seriously considering the position. We will have to wait and see if Fox is going to take it seriously and go after the pop star to join Kara, Randy, and Ellen as a permanent Judge on “American Idol”.
Could it be that one of the fists pumping “Guidos” from The Jersey Shore is going to be walking the hallowed grounds of Harvard University? Vinnie Guadagnino could possibly be doing just that.
Guadagnino explains that he recently took the LSAT and that his scores were good possibly even good enough to go to Yale or Harvard. Guadagnino says that he had a 3.9 GPA as well as Latin Honors but for right now he is happy just being one of The Jersey Shore, if this meal ticket or fun runs out he might just try his hand at Harvard Law, but for now it is going to remain his plan “b”.
One reason why the 21 year old stood out among the other fist pumpers of The Jersey Shore is because he has the brains to back up his brawn, telling Mike “the situation” that at 27 he should be further ahead and that he did not want to be anything like him by the time he reached 27 years old. So the question remains, while we end up seeing Vinnie leave The Jersey Shore, or will he continue to fist pump and “guido”his way through an endless summer? Only time will tell!
On April 13th an unauthorized biography by Crowne Publishing of Oprah Winfrey penned by celebrity scribe Kitty Kelley will be released. The 544 page biography will be the first of 500,000 copies that will be printed.
Kitty Kelley has become a favorite among those who are interested in celebrity gossip. She has written biopics of people such as Nancy Reagan, the Bush family and even Frank Sinatra.
The publisher claims Kitty Kelley has gone through the life of Oprah for over three years and conducted over 850 interviews to come up with the biography. The biography has many curious as the famed icon has been known for being secretive and guarded over her personal life.
Kelley went on to say that she was “full of admiration for her accomplishments and fascinated by her complexity” of Oprah Winfrey. The biography is said to cover all the different aspects of her life and will be evenhanded. The unauthorized biography is also going to be released in e-book form and there will also be an audio book.
With Oprah’s show coming to an end soon one can safely assume this book will likely sell but many doubt it will be a selection for Oprah’s Book Club!
Vancouver Canada native Sarah McLachlan’s song “One Dream” has been chosen as the official theme song for the 2010 Winter Olympics being held in Vancouver Canada starting on February 12th. The song will also be used as the center of the marketing campaign for NBC that is centered on the Olympics.
The 3 time Grammy winner and humanitarian stated in a press release: “I am thrilled to be a part of the Olympics celebration. The games will provide the perfect opportunity to share with the world the hometown I love!” Her record label is also very happy with the choice of “One Dream,” and said that the song was inspired by the Olympic spirit and written for the world’s athletes as they strive to accomplish their dreams.
The video for the song was shot in Vancouver and will be aired during the telecast of the US Figure Skating Championships on January 24th. Though beautiful, the video has drawn some criticism since it was released. Critics state that the video, which focuses mainly on skating, does not really encompass the whole spirit of the Winter Games, leaving out some other events entirely.
This summer McLachlan will perform with the Lilith Fair that she founded. This year the Fair will partner with OneStage.com which will run the “Lilith Local Talent Search.”
Would you like to see a “nude” Housewife? Meet “Real Housewives of New York City” star Kelly Bensimon, who will be the next nude model for “Playboy” in March along with a six-page spread. The photos are to be shot by her ex-husband, fashion photographer Giles Bensimon.
Kelly has also appeared as a model for “Elle,” “Cosmopolitan,” and “Harper’s Bazaar” and was the face of a well-known cosmetic company, “Clarins.” She has also written several books including “The Spirit of the Hamptons.”
Not everyone is as excited about this news as she is. Kelly made MakeMeHeal.com’s list of 2009’s Worst Plastic Surgeries under breast implants and liposuction. AwfulPlasticSurgery.com says in regard to her breast implants that they are “wonky.” Renowned plastic surgeon Dr. John Saia wrote in the “Truth in Cosmetic Surgery” blog that the implants look like ten to twenty year old “over the muscle silicone types that are begging for a redo.”
She is the second Housewife to pose nude after Jenna Keough from “The Real Housewives of Orange County” was Playmate of the month in 1980, but is not the only New York City Housewife to pose nude. Her castmate Bethenny Frankel posed naked for a PETA campaign where a billboard of herself was unveiled in Times Square back in November.
Tiger Woods as he has never before been seen: unshaven, alone, and dressed in old, tattered clothing, which is a huge contrast to the clean-shaven good-natured golfer fans once knew. He is currently being treated at The Pine Grove Behavioral Health and Addiction Services facility in Hattiesburg, Mississippi in a six-week program directed by Dr. Patrick Carnes who is renowned for his sexual compulsion rehab programs.
Tiger was romantically linked to fourteen women during his current marriage to wife Elin and reportedly drove into a fire hydrant and a tree in the early hours of the morning after Thanksgiving. He’s not been in the public eye since that incident.
Dr. Drew Pinksky from the hit reality series “Celebrity Rehab” is currently following Woods’ therapy and says the road to recovery will be a long, tedious process that could take between three and five years to treat with trauma care and lots of education. Pinksky is not, however, involved in Tiger’s treatment.
Woods’ true fans who are eagerly waiting for him to come back to golf hope that his treatment will be a success and will not weaken his game. Tiger hopes to return to the PGA tour in the spring and is determined to show his supporters that he is sorry for his actions and that he will change.
If there is one person that just cannot seem to take more than one week away from the public eye, it’s Nadya Suleman.
Ms. Suleman is the famous single mother of 14 children from artificial insemination. All of the children came from her own body, and none are adopted. In addition Ms. Suleman has been optioning reality shows to display her large family, and their way of life.
Though there has been a lot of disapproval of Ms. Suleman’s way of life, way of raising children, ways of gaining attention and ways of insuring her financial backing; she has achieved something quite successfully.
Today Ms. Suleman revealed a super trim, bikini ready body, after having given birth to 14 little ones. She displays her great looking body on the cover of Star magazine to the amazement of both fans, and critics alike. One thing to note is that the “Octomom,” chose not to lose the weight by using any form of plastic surgery. Ironically, she did it all the natural way, because she didn’t want to feel like she’d cheated in her diet. All things considered, she did pretty well, losing approximately 150 pounds in a very short time.
Her slimmed down weight is a trim and shapely 120 pounds, and in spite of all the controversy, she does wear it well. She jokes to Star Magazine, that her friends call her “Rubber Band,” because she’s always so good at losing weight after she gives birth.
