An Air Canada plane rolled off the runway at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport shortly after midnight on Saturday. A team from the Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) was dispatched to the scene to investigate the events.
Flight AC623 from Halifax carried 118 people, including 112 passengers. No one was injured during the incident.
“Preliminary information indicates that the aircraft’s landing gear left the runway a short distance before returning,” said Air Canada spokesperson Isabelle Arthur to Global News.
One of the aircraft’s wheels, an Airbus A320, was damaged during the tumultuous landing, which took place in rainy conditions.
“We arrived fairly quickly for the landing, it seems to me. There was a lot of noise and we hit the track hard, “said one passenger, who preferred to remain anonymous.
