EDMONTON – Edmonton police are searching for parents of a baby whose body was found near a church on Friday.
According to the police, the boy, who was about 20 months old, was the victim of a “suspicious death”. His body would then have been abandoned near the Anglican church Good Shepherd, where he was discovered by a passerby by 2:30 pm.
It was the homicide section that was responsible for shedding light on this tragic event.
The authorities disseminated pictures of the clothing worn by the child in the hope that someone would identify him.
“Ultimately, identifying the child will help us understand the circumstances that led to his death. Someone, somewhere, lost his little boy. We need a helping hand, only to identify him, but also to find his family, “said Sergeant Duane Hunter at a news conference reported by the Edmonton Sun.
The drama has shaken many people in Alberta, right up to Premier Rachel Notley. “It breaks my heart. Please, if you can help, contact @edmontonpolice at 1 800 222-8477, “Notley said on her Twitter account.
Along with this quest for information, the authorities intend to perform an autopsy on the body of the toddler, in order to determine the exact cause of his death.
If it turned out that the little boy had been killed, it would be the fifteenth murder to occur in the territory of Edmonton since the beginning of the year, said the Sun.
