Tesla will unveil an electric semi-truck in September, Elon Musk announced on the social network Twitter on Thursday. The manufacturer also working on an an electric pick-up.
The American electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla will unveil a truck in September, announced its founder Elon Musk in a tweet Thursday. “The presentation of the Tesla semi-trailer will take place in September, and the team has done an impressive job, it’s truly superior,” said Elk Musk. He had already announced last July that Tesla was aiming to manufacture a freight truck and a vehicle to replace urban buses.

“In addition to private vehicles, there are two other types of electric vehicles required: large trucks and urban transport with high passenger density. Both are in the early stages of development at Tesla and should be ready to be unveiled. Next year, “Elon Musk wrote in a post on the Tesla website. Elon Musk also said Thursday that Tesla would present a pickup truck, a very popular vehicle in the United States, in the next 18 to 24 months.
It currently only builds two models of high-end passenger cars (the Model S and the Model X) for an annual production of around 80,000 vehicles. Elon Musk said Thursday, the “Model 3”, a mid-range car for which he has already received nearly 400,000 pre-orders.
Elon Musk also referred to Tesla’s next sports coupe on Thursday, saying it would be a convertible model. It was with a model of this type, the Roadster, that Tesla entered the automotive market in 2008. Made popular by movie stars like Leonardo di Caprio, it had sold some 2,500 copies before its Production stops in 2012. The Roadster was the first electric vehicle capable of traveling more than 300 kilometers without being recharged.
