Saturday, August 29th, marked what would have been Michael Jackson’s 51st birthday. To millions of his fans worldwide, Michael Jackson is still alive. All around the globe celebrations took place in his honor.
In Mexico City, nearly 13,000 Jackson look-alikes performed “Thriller” for a new world record. In Las Vegas, Michael Jackson was awarded a star on the Palms Casino Resort’s Walk of Fame. In New York, filmmaker Spike Lee hosted a birthday party for Jackson in a Brooklyn park. Despite some heavy rains, thousands of fans attended. On the beach of Puri, a city in the east Indian state of Orissa, sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik and his students from the Golden Sand Art Institute created a sand sculpture of the King of Pop, complete with a fifteen foot guitar. Even Google created a special logo to commemorate Jackson’s 51st birthday.
As fans around the world celebrated in many different ways Michael Jackson’s life and legacy, some observed a minute of silence to pay their respects to the pop icon. To his fans, Michael Jackson was the greatest and most influential entertainer who ever lived. Despite his troubled life and eccentric behavior, Jackson has cemented a place in history that may never be duplicated by another performer.
From Trafalgar Square in London to Gary, Indiana where Michael Jackson was born, the King of Pop has been memorialized through dance, song, and art. He has left behind a legacy of not only a great entertainer, but a great humanitarian, as well.
In the news recently it was reported that the Apple iphones have been known to explode for no apparent reason. Apple claims it is the batteries but there is not enough evidence to prove anything as of yet. The exploding iphones can lead to serious accidents so the cause needs to be found quickly.
Apple is taking no blame for the exploding iphones as of yet and seems to say it is an external force niot made by Apple. According to Apple an external force measn is may have been dropped by the customer and forced internal damage causing it to overheat and explode. The customers that the iphones have exploded on claim they have done nothing wrong and there was nothing they could of done to make the iphone explode. Some customers had the iphones simply lying on a desk or counter when it exploded.
After a meeting in France to discuss the possibilities as to the cause of the exploding iphones the conclusion that was met was that the customers were to blame and it is at no fault of Apple, that is what Apple is claiming.
After a recetn interview Apple management responded that the Iphones weren’t damaged by a battery defect it had to be been caused by a prior crack of the screen.
Horror Flicks Take Over the Box Office
Going into the weekend, it looked like there was going to be a tight race between two R-rated horror movies, but with Friday estimates it became evidently clear that “The Final Destination” was going to come out the victor.
The fourth instalment of the gory horror series opened in 3,121 theatres with nearly half of them screening the movie in 3D, and the higher ticket prices helped it gross an estimated $28.3 million over the weekend, an impressive per-theatre average of $9 thousand per venue.
After opening with $38 million last week, Quentin Tarantino’s WWII thriller “Inglourious Basterds” dropped 47% to second place with roughly $20 million and a ten-day total of $73 million domestically.
Rob Zombie’s horror sequel Halloween II didn’t stand a chance against such heavy R-rated competition, as it grossed $17.4 million in just over 3,000 theaters or roughly $5,700 per venue, settling for third place The Neill Blomkamp-directed sci-fi thriller “District 9″ brought in another $10.7 million in fourth place and dropping to fifth place was Stephen Sommers’ G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, which tool in $8 million to bring its own gross to $132.4 million.
At the end of Episode Ten fans of the Charlaine Harris series of southern vampire books hoped to meet Sophie Ann LeClerc, the most frightening vampire in all Louisiana. Vampire Bill raced to Sophie Ann’s home in New Orleans for help in destroying the Maenad, MaryAnn.
Sookie coped with the living asylum for the criminally insane that is now Bon Temps and a rescued Tara with the help only of Lafayette and Lettie Mae. Jason, Andy, and Sam were trying to develop a plan of action to save the town.
Jason is convinced that Armageddon has arrived, Andy is just stupid, and Sam is lost. Into this mix steps Arlene’s two hungry and neglected children. Sam determines to seek out Eric’s help with the Maenad while Jason and Andy race to the police station to arm themselves. There Jason and Andy find a nymphomaniacal female, the sheriff dressed in his uniform shirt and underwear, and a deputy with a gun. After a few contrived altercations Jason and Andy get the weapons and race to Sookie’s house.
Meanwhile, Tara has persuaded Lettie Mae to set her free and Lettie Mae has terrorized Lafayette into a near comatose state with the rifle. Tara takes off after Eggs and Sookie manages to disarm Lettie Mae. She and Lafayette also race to her house to wage war against the Maenad Maryann.
This episode was like watching someone’s nightmare-A contrived inconceivable plot with a giant unexplained egg at the end.
Is Michael Jackson really dead?
Michael Jackson fans were devastated by July, 2009 news reports that the enigmatic pop star had died in a Los Angeles hospital just two months short of his 51st birthday. The death, according to the coroner’s report, was from an overdose of prescription drugs, and there have been reports that Jackson’s physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, might be charged with manslaughter (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/music/michael-jacksons-doctor-to-be-charged-with-manslaughter.html/).
Events since the announcement of Michael Jackson’s death, however, cast a shadow of doubt over the popular singer’s fate, and prompt some to believe that he might, in fact, be alive and living in seclusion in some undisclosed location.
On August 29, his 51st birthday was celebrated around the world, and his funeral, originally scheduled for that date, has been postponed until September 3. Further doubt is cast on the singer’s death by his doctor’s refusal to sign the death certificate.
For those who might ask why anyone would stage such an elaborate scenario, one has but to look at the magazine industry. Prior to July, this was an industry that was bleeding red ink all over its ledgers. Since the first announcement, the proliferation of news coverage has generated over US $55 million in revenue. Sales of records, CDs and memorabilia have yielded additional millions, and Jackson’s records have seen a resurgence of popularity worldwide.
As to where Michael Jackson might be, one might want to scrutinize the newest addition to Madame Tussauds’ Wax Museum in Hollywood very closely to see if it blinks
Miley Cyrus, who is famous for playing the Disney channel character Hannah Montana, raised more than a few eyebrows when she performed her song “Party in the USA” at the Teen Choice Awards earlier this month. Her performance at the Los Angeles event involved some rauncy dancing, as the 16 year old actress swung around a stripper pole for a majority of her performance.
Though it has caught the attention of many opinionated critics, the actress’s father, country singer Billy Ray Cyrus, has downplayed the performance. Defending his daughter, he described the performance as good, clean fun and said that his daughter just loves entertaining people.
“You know what? I just think that Miley loves entertaining people. She loves singing and songwriting. I always tell her to love what you’re doing and stay focused for the love of the art and not worry so much about opinion.”
He went on with, “I give my kids a lot of freedom to make the art they want to make and make it in their own voice. I think it’s important.”
Miley’s father is perfectly fine with her act and just wants his daughter to stay focused on her love of her art and her music.
UFC 102 Results
UFC 102 took place Saturday night in Portland, the first ever UFC card to take place there.
Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira fought against a gutsy Randy Couture, dominating most of the way en route to a much needed unanimous decision victory last night. The two heavy hitters started the fight matching each other strike for strike. Couture seemed to have taken the upper hand after an impressive uppercut, though Nogueira responded with a striking blow that landed Couture on the mat. Though Couture was able to escape submission, the rest of the fight belonged to Nogueria who was well on his way to victory.
In the middleweight class, Nate Marquardt recorded a victory by way of a first round knockout over his opponent Demian Maia. The knockout occurred at the 21 second mark of the first round.
In the light-heavyweight class, Thiago Silva earned another quick victory against his opponent Keith Jardine, recording a first round knockout punch at the 1:35 mark.
In the other events of the UFC 102, Jake Rosholt defeated Chris Leben on a one arm triangle choke in the third round. Aaron Simpson defeated Ed Herman by way of a TKO in the second round. Gabriel Gonzaga recorded a first round TKO over his opponent Chris Tuchscherer. Mike Russow defeated his oppenent Justin McCully in a unanimous decision while Mark Munoz came out victorious against Nick Catone in a close split decision. Todd Duffee recorded another first round knockout versus his oppenent Tim Hague at the 7 second mark of the opening round. Evan Dunham defeated Marcus Aurelio via a split decision.
Megan Fox Promoting Movie Through Her Sexuality
Taking the lyrics from the 2008 “I Kissed a Girl” by singer Katy Perry, actress Megan Fox was quoted to say, by the UK Daily Record, “”I feel much safer with girls, so I felt more comfortable kissing Amanda in the movie than kissing anyone else.”
Ms. Fox, who was voted by FHM readers in 2008 as the “Sexiest Woman in the World, reveled that she enjoyed kissing her co-star, Amanda Seyfried, in the movie Jennifer’s Body. Could this revelation be a shameless plug for her new movie set to be released on September 18?
In the movie, Megan Fox plays a possessed cheerleader who kills male classmates. This will be her first leading role since the poorly received 2009 summer movie Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
It seems Ms Fox has a habit of promoting her sexuality to coincide with her films. Has Megan Fox tried to create some free publicity by stating she enjoyed the homosexual romantic encounter? Her last big discussion of her sexuality coincide with the October 2008 movie, How to Lose Friends & Alienate People. In an October 2008 issue of the GQ, she reveled she had an affair with a female Russian stripper.
Jaycee Lee Dugard Update
This Friday, Phillip Garrido and wife Nancy were finally being arrested for Jaycee Lee Dugard’s kidnapping 18 years ago. They appeared in court and denied the 29 charges against them relating to the kidnapping.
Back in 1991, Carl Probyn watched helplessly as Dugard, who was then 11 years old, was taken from her home in South Lake Tahoe. Jaycee Dugard is now 29 and had been held prisoner by convicted rapist Garrido and kept secretly in a backyard compound in East San Francisco. This is where she gave birth to two of his children.
Jacyee’s horrible ordeal finally came to an end after almost two decades when authorities discovered her identity at the University of California. Garrido was on this campus handing out religious pamphlets. Two workers became suspicious of him as soon as they saw him with his two daughters. His two girls did look a lot like him but they did not act or dress well.
After being freed, Dugard had a hard time being out in public with her daughters and at one point had to go home because the girls were not used to being around people. It was said that Dugard looked good; almost as good as she looked years before. Dugard’s girls were seen as also being good and running around playing together.
While fans around the world continue to mourn the tragic death of pop icon Michael Jackson, a 29-second video has leaked on YouTube that many conspiracy theorists are convinced shows a very much alive Michael Jackson hopping out of a coroners van and being escorted out of some type of underground parking garage.
Michael Jackson Still Alive?
The video, which has already logged more than 700,000 hits on YouTube, attempts to support claims that Jackson covered up his reported death on June 25th and seized the opportunity to get himself out of the public eye as the pressure continued to build on his sold out “This Is It” farewell tour.
The individual seen emerging from the van in the grainy video certainly does appear to have the same hunched posture, build and haircut as Michael Jackson did at the time of his death. But in conspiracy fashion, neither the individual’s face nor the license plate of the van he jumps out of are clearly visible in the footage.
Minor flaws of logic as far as conspiracy theorists are concerned. The video shouts out a loud YES to the Michael-Jack-Still-Alive quesiton as thousands of MJ fans say the video proves that Michael Jackson’s death was in fact a huge hoax, perpetrated so that the pop star could escape his creditors and the intense public scrutiny under which he has lived his whole life.
Earlier this week the Los Angeles coroner confirmed that Jackson had lethal levels of the powerful anesthetic propofol in his body when he died in June aged 50. His death is being treated as homicide.
Dead or alive the media flurry surrounding the fast life and tragic times of Michael Jackson doesn’t look to be ending any time soon.
