Los Angeles – Patrick Swayze isn’t letting cancer get the best of him and take over his life; instead he’s partying to celebrate the end of filming on his new TV show called “The Beastâ€.
The 56 year-old was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer back in May and has been undergoing treatment ever since. This hasn’t stopped Swayze from acting, playing the role of an undercover FBI agent in “The Beast†which premiers January 15.
His co-star Kevin O-Connor says “He has so much more energy that you don’t think about his health. In fact I think I look a lot more tired than Patrick does. He is just amazing.”
Swayze and his wife of 33 years, Lisa Niemi arrived at the wrap up party just after 7pm and stayed almost 2 hours before saying their goodbyes, but according to an onlooker “Patrick still looked healthy and rested when he left – he didn’t appear drained by the appearance at the event.â€
New York – The rate of cancer has declined in the US. Â This is the first time that this has happened since the United States government began documenting cancer cases and statistics. This is great news for Americans. Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the United States of America.
Researchers think that the decline in the cancer rate is due to the fact that there are better cancer treatments for cancer patients. There is also evidence to prove that cancer prevention is improving. This could be because many people know the signs of cancer and go to see their doctors sooner for diagnosis.
The number of cancer patients who die is also on the decline. This offers hope to those cancer patients who think they have little chance for survival. Doctors do think that the cancer decline could be temporary. They think that many people who are baby boomers may soon develop cancer and increase the cancer rate.
Another concern is that the economic crisis may increase the cancer rate. Many people are losing their jobs and their health care insurance. If people are uninsured then they will not seek preventative care or go and see a doctor to be screened for cancer if a health issue arises.
The case rate dropped 0.8 % every year from 1999 through 2005. The rates of cancer in men dropped three times more than the cancer rates for women. However, American Indians and Alaskan natives did not see a decline in their overall cancer rates. The number of cancer related deaths dropped by 1.8 % every year from 199 through 2005.
Approximately 1.4 people are diagnosed with cancer ever year in the United States of America. Approximately five hundred and sixty thousand people die from cancer every year. The cancer rate decline is also due to a decrease in the number of new cases of the most common cancers. Those cancers are: lung cancer, colorectal cancer, prostate cancer, and breast cancer. These cancers usually account for more than half of new cancer cases and deaths.
Some cancers are on the rise though. Men are facing more cases of liver cancer, kidney cancer, melanoma, non Hodgkin lymphoma, myeloma, and cancer of the esophagus. Women are facing more cases of thyroid cancer, pancreatic cancer, brain and nervous cancer, and leukemia.
Americans need to monitor any changes in their bodies. If you feel different or have an illness that will not go away then you should go and see a doctor. Early prevention and detection is the key to helping people treat cancer so that they do not die due to the disease. Hopefully, the cancer rate will continue to decline in the years to come.

Toronto – Some types of breast cancer may actually go away on their own, according to a new study.
Led by Dr. Per-Henrik Zahl of the Norwegian Institute of Public Health, researchers looked at invasive breast cancer rates among 120,000 Norwegian women aged 50 to 64 who had a mammogram.
The women were compared to another group who did not have the regular breast cancer screenings, but were detected to have the disease.
They found no difference in breast cancer rates, and found hat 22% more invasive breast tumors were discovered in the group who had mammograms every two years.
“The problem is, we don’t know the natural history [of breast cancer],” said Dr. Jay Brooks, chairman of hematology/oncology at Ochsner Health System in Baton Rouge, La. “I am sure there are some that do regress. The problem is, we can’t pick up those that are going to regress. It’s one of the unanswerable questions.”
This shows that it is possible that some types of cancer may actually disappear on their own.
“Our findings simply provide new insight on what is arguably the major harm associated with mammographic screening, namely, the detection and treatment of cancers that would otherwise regress,†said the researchers led by Per-Henrik Zahl at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health‘s epidemiology department in Oslo.
The study was published in the Nov. 24 issue of the Archives of Internal Medicine.
Los Angeles – Heidi Montag’s sister Holly says she’s quote, “a little bit hurt†that Heidi didn’t tell her about her and Spencer’s secret beach wedding in Mexico.
Holly says she had “no idea†until she landed in Toronto yesterday and checked her texts and emails.
Holly was still in shock and got a little emotional when she appeared on The Hills Aftershow on MTV Canada last night.
According to blog gossiper Perez Hilton: “The ceremony was held on the beach. And, it wasn’t planned… There were no family members present for the ceremony, which lasted only 15 minutes.”
Spencer said to his bride during his vows: “Heidi, from the moment you came into my life, I knew my life would never be the same without you. You are the light in my life like the sun to the Earth,†according to Perez. “Your loving warmth makes me want to be a better person. Being with you, I feel complete. I’m honored to even be able to call you my wife.â€
“The minute we said our vows, I couldn’t stop crying,†Heidi told Usmagazine.com about the quickie marriage to the him half of Speidi in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
The bride’s mother objected to the wedding and was said to be “caught off guard by the news.â€
No family or friends were present for the ceremony but a photographer was there to capture the publicity-loving couple.

Toronto – Another Disney star has joined the ranks of the nude. 25-year-old Adrienne Bailon, one of the Cheetah Girls, and fiance to Robert Kardashian (Kim Kardashian’s younger brother) had pictures of her wearing only her bra begin circulating the internet over the weekend.
Bailon’s laptop was stolen from the JFK airport in New York and returned to her record company for $1000. The nude pics, supposedly intended for Kardashian, were gone. The star’s rep said, “These photos were taken in private. Adrienne will be pursuing legal action against the person or persons sending these private photos out.”
However, the Disney star’s ex publicist, Jonathon Jaxson, admits that he and the young star were working to spice up her look. After the laptop was stolen, they began playing with the idea that some nude pics “could have been stolen.” And then, pictures appeared all over the internet.
Meanwhile, Bailon is on tour, and is tearfully apologizing to her fans over the scandal. No one knows who leaked them as the laptop was returned anonymously and the Kardashians insist they didn’t do it. Jaxson suspects Bailon, but has no proof.
Disney is still looking into the situation and is not yet making any comments. However, if it turns out that Bailon was using the nude pictures for some form of self-promotion, as Jaxson suggests, it’s unlikely Disney will offer her any help. Now, it’s just a matter of waiting.
With her new “look” Balion has received an offer to pose in Playboy. For $100,000 the young entertainer would appear in a fully-nude pictorial.
No work on on if Bailon will accept the offer.
Over the past year, two other Disney leading ladies have been involved in racy photo scandals. Both Miley Cyrus and Vanessa Hudgens had intimate photos leaked online.
New York – Malia and Sasha Obama to appear on ‘Hannah Montana’
Barack Obama’s two young daughters have been invited to appear on Hannah Montana, according to actor Billy Ray Cyrus.
In an interview with Access Hollywood, Cyrus, who co-stars alongside daughter, Miley in the popular kids’ show, said Malia and Sasha Obama were asked to take part in an episode.
“They probably will. The invitation is there,†says Cyrus. “You know the Hannah Montana film comes out in April. Maybe something might happen around then.â€
While Obama has said in interviews that Malia, 10, is a big fan of the show, so far, the Obamas have, for the most part, kept the girls away from the media, so whether they want their daughters to participate in the show remains uncertain.
Miley Cyrus told Access Hollywood she did not know for certain if the offer had gone out, but added, “I think that would be really cool and if anything, have them visit the set.â€
New York – Britney’s Spears’ youngest son Jayden James has been released from hospital.
“A source close to the Spears family has told us that Britney and family have left the Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center,” says an update on the singers website. “Jayden is fine.”
The 2–year-old was taken to the Southwest Mississippi Medical Centre after suffering what family rep calls “a reaction to something he ingested.â€
Britney and her boys are currently in her hometown of Kentwood Louisiana.
New York – Adrienne Bailon is the latest Disney darling to find herself the victim of a racy photo scandal.
Partially-nude photos of “Cheetah Girls” star have been leaked online.
According to Bailon’s rep, Jonathan Jason, the photos were stolen from the personal computer of the actress, so it now she has initiated a lawsuit against whoever is responsible.
“These photos were taken in private. Adrienne will be pursuing legal action against the person sending these private photos out,” Bailon’s rep said in a statement.
In the images, Bailon, 25, is seen wearing a bra and nothing else. In another leaked photo the actress can bee seen posing to show his backside.
Bailon says she is “deeply sorry†to fans.
It is not the first time that a star of Disney is caught in a controversy. Both Vanessa Hudgens and Miley Cyrus wer invloved in racy photo scandals over the past year.
