Attempts Being Made To Hash Out Security Agreement
India - The makers of the popular Blackberry portable communications and e-mail device are meeting with officials of India’s state security to try and establish a set of security agreements.
This is being done to try and pursue the ability of Blackberry users to access their devices in India.
Officials in India seek to be able to intercept e-mails and secure communications when necessary, in an effort to maintain state security and thwart terrorism. (more…)
Washington - According to a new report, the childhood obesity rate in the U.S. has not risen, for the first time in 45 years.
The author of the new study, Cynthia Ogden of the National Center for Health Statistics stated that the childhood obesity rates stayed the same in all groups, including boys and girls, whites, African Americans, Mexican Americans, etc.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention stated in the Journal of the American Medical Association that the childhood obesity levels may have now peacked.
The numbers shot up from 5% of teens being overweight in the 1960s, to 16% in 1999.
The latest numbers released in the study show no gain at all among the rates for children in the U.S.
Researchers looked at more than 8,000 children in the national health survey.
Adolescents between 12 and 19 were more likely to be overweight and obese compared to kids aged 2 to 5.
Hollywood - Actress Sharon Stone has come out and stated that the earthquakes in China were from bad Karma.
The bad Karma apparently came from the deals China has made in how they have dealt with Tibet to date.
She made the comments during an interview at the Cannes Film Festival in France.
She stated “At first I’m not happy with the way the Chinese are treating the Tibetans, and then all this earthquake and stuff happened and I thought; Is that Karma when you’re not nice that th ebad things happen to you?”
The earthquakes in China have left at least 80,000 people dead.
Los Angeles - Michael Lohan is claiming that his daughter, Lindsay Lohan, is dating DJ Samantha Ronson.
Lohan told Usmagazine.com that Lindsay’s romance with her gal pal “is evident to anyone with half a brain.”
Lindsay and Sam’s rumoured relationship came to light when pictures of the platinum pair cuddling and holding hands at a party in Cannes surfaced last week.
After outing his daughter, Lohan added that he “doesn’t exploit my kids.” The comment was in reference to his ex wife Dina Lohan who now has her own reality TV show with lindsay’s younger sister Ali Lohan.
Los Angeles - The death of Donda West in 2007 has spurred a number of state legislatures around the country including California, Florida and various locations inside Canada to take action.
Donda West was the mother of entertainment superstar Kayne West, and she perished following cosmetic surgery in November of 2007.
Ms. West died after a massive heart attack, thought to have been brought on by the surgery. It was revealed that Donda West was not screened for some basic health issues before her surgery.
Insiders in the field of Cosmetic surgery admit that there should be better information and warnings provided to patients who seek plastic surgery for any reason.
Experts caution that plastic surgery is often dismissed, as somehow a minor issue, when at times it can be very much a major type of surgery, and the complications that are possible are not given the attention that they should be. (more…)
Hollywood - It appears that Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo are a couple once again, as the two were seen together once again over the US Memorial Day weekend.
The couple, who according to reports broke up a few weeks ago, were spotted having dinner at N9NE Steakhouse in Dallas, Texas on Saturday night.
After dinner, they went to visit some friends, including Dallas Cowboys receiver Isaiah Stanback.

It grossed $101 million in box office sales this weekend according to the box office research company Media Numbers.
Indiana is expected to earn another $25 million on Monday putting it behind Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End for the biggest Memorial weekend sales in history.
Indiana marks the biggest opening of the year surpassing the record of $98.6 million set by the superhero hit Iron Man a few weeks ago.

The 15-year-old “Hannah Montana” star is once again in the middle of another photo scandal.
The latest leaked photos, which show the young entertainer pulling up her shirt to reveal her stomach, were intended for her-boyfriend Nick Jonas of the Jonas brothers.
Although not nearly as scandalous as the photo for Vanity Fair, the latest image is just yet another example of the teen Idol avoiding advice and continuing to disappoint her fans.
After the Vanity Fair scandal Cyrus apologized, but admitted she didn’t see the problem with the photo shoot.
On MySpace, she said, “For me, I was like, ‘It’s not a big deal.’ But they got spread around.”

Officials Hope Education Can Help Prevent Incidence
Sioux Falls S.D.- Health officials have discovered that it is more important even than killing mosquitoes to educated the public in preventing the West Nile Virus among the population.
South Dakota has the nations highest infection risk of anywhere in the United States, and it is entering the 7th year of the West Nile Virus infection.
The disease West Nile Virus is spread from mosquitoes to infected birds and then sometimes to humans. Not all of the mosquitoes carry the virus, but when it does the infection itself can be both painful and dehabilitating.
South Dakota had 208 infections of the West Nile Virus last year, and 6 deaths. The virus appears to be spread mostly by mosquitoes that happen later in the summer, the ones that can seemingly handle dried out conditions.
Most of the time infections nationwide and in South Dakota peak in the late summer, normally in the month of August. Other states that struggle with the disease include Mississippi, Arizona, Tennessee as well as other midwestern states. (more…)
15 Year Old Wins Two Gold Medals
Ottawa- The top science award winner at this years Canada Wide Science Fair held last week was a 15-year-old girl from Walkerton.
Megan Schlorff was the top award winner, with two gold medals and a impressive scholarship worth 10 thousand dollars.
One project examined how the agricultural run off can impact the watershed in an area. It examined the watershed for the Saugeen River, and revealed that conditions from agricultural can affect the water quality. (more…)
